Day 1 - 4: Lower Zambezi
On arrival at Jeki you will be met and transferred to Anabezi Luxury Tented Camp for the next four nights in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park. Located on the banks of the Zambezi River in Zambia, you’ll find the exquisite Anabezi Camp. Its name, derived from the Ana Trees, or Winter Thorns, that surround it, is more than a luxurious camp, but home to all kinds of wildlife. Attracted by the corn-yellow pods that fall from the trees, you’ll be mere metres away from feasting elephants as they spend long, lazy days by the riverbanks. Anabezi Camp is made up of twelve spacious, secluded tents, raised on timber platforms to give you a magnificent view of the Lower Zambezi National Park. Where the Zambezi River and Mushika Flood Plain meet, is also the meeting spot for hundreds of animal species. Come morning or night, you’ll be greeted with an array of game from the comfort of your tent.
Over the days you will enjoy a range of activities including game drives, game walks, canoeing, boating safaris, fishing and birding. Over 95% of the game sightings in this area are exclusive to your vehicle which is a welcome change from many other parts of Africa.
Our 4×4 vehicles make it easy for you to follow the animals as they spend their days roaming around the Lower Zambezi National Park plains, and relaxing in the sun. From lazy lions, to buffalos, rhinos, and herds of elephant, to mention a few, let our experienced guides teach you about their natural habitat, while giving you some truly picturesque moments.
Usually leaving first thing in the morning to take advantage of the cooler weather, our walking safaris are a great way to acquaint yourself with all the wonders around you. With guides who will point out various birds, plants and insects, offering you interesting details and facts, you’ll not only get up, close and personal with the Lower Zambezi National Park, but learn a lot too.
Explore the main bank, islands and channels in the lower Zambezi River on a custom-built boat. The most comfortable way to discover the wildlife, plants and birdlife that live around the river, you can watch as they graze, play, drink and raise their young. From fish eagles, to crocs, hippos and buffalos, make the most of the Lower Zambezi National Park with a cocktail in one hand, and a delicious assortment of snacks in the other.
The Zambezi River is the fourth largest river in Africa, and how better to explore it than by canoe. Each canoeing trip is led by an experienced guide, who not only has a vast knowledge of the animals, plants, fish and birds that reside alongside, and in the river, but also the water conditions too. From crocodiles, to hippo pods, rare birds and fresh water fish, this experience is truly once-in-a-lifetime.
For keen fishermen, late August to mid November is the best time to fish on the Zambezi River – although the tiger fish and other species can be caught throughout the safari season. With a firm catch-and-release policy, we want you to enjoy fresh water fishing, but without harming the environment. With our custom built 18’ pontoon boats, and river guides with an intimate knowledge of the river they’ve grown up in, both beginners and experts will be taken to the best spots for a mesmerizing experience.
Day 5 - 8: South Luangwa
This morning you are transferred to Jeki Airstrip for your flight to Mfuwe (cost of flight not included). On arrival at Mfuwe Airport you will be met and transferred to Lion Camp in South Luangwa NP where you will spend the next four nights. The camp is built on the water’s edge amongst woodlands and some large Sausage & Mahogany Trees. The main lodge is a large open, spacious and airy thatched area with private nooks, seating areas and a pool. A well-stocked bar, real size snooker table, coffee station, shopping area and reading area form part of this offering. The openness of the lodge affords spectacular views of the plains with the constant presence of wildlife. All the ten suites have been designed to maximize the spectacular views of the plains with plenty of wildlife passing, affording our guests the opportunity of constant viewing, from either the main lodge decks or the luxury of your private suite deck.
Lion Camp is based in one of the most exclusive abundant game-viewing areas in Africa and therefore delights with its daily game drives. Here you will experience the sense of time and space as the animals.Be your interest birds, wildlife or landscape, Lion Camp is a photographer’s dream.
