Following an exhilarating final morning game drive and breakfast, you’ll be escorted to Kasane airport to catch your flight to Khwai airstrip. Upon arrival, a guide will greet you and facilitate your transfer to Machaba Camp, where a three-night stay in the heart of the wildlife-rich Khwai area awaits.
Machaba Camp, a traditional-style sanctuary, is perfectly situated in the 35,000-hectare Khwai Concession, nestled on the northeastern edge of the iconic Okavango Delta and adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve. The camp, embraced by a riverine tree line, guarantees privacy, stunning river vistas, exquisite dining, and the epitome of warm hospitality. Venturing out from the camp’s comforts reveals an abundance of both land and aquatic wildlife.
Game Drives: Experience the thrill of morning and afternoon or evening game drives around the camp. Each drive, lasting about three hours, explores the diverse river systems and flood plains, offering opportunities to observe a plethora of wildlife, including large predators and vast herds of elephants and buffalo. Evening drives provide a unique chance to spot nocturnal creatures with the aid of spotlights.
Walking Safaris: For a closer look at the delta’s intricate details, join our guided walking safaris. Conducted in the mornings with armed guides, these leisurely walks are designed to appreciate the often-overlooked smaller aspects of the bush. The availability of walking safaris depends on weather conditions and the terrain’s navigability.
Mokoro Safaris: Glide through the Delta’s serene waterways on a mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe, poled by experienced guides. This peaceful journey, ideal for morning or extended day trips, offers a unique perspective of the Okavango’s channels and islands, ensuring a tranquil and rejuvenating experience.
Please note that the availability of water-based activities is contingent upon the Delta’s water levels.
