The best of South Africa is featured in this seriously comfortable South Africa safari.  Start off with the ‘mother city’ of Cape Town, and all its iconic beauty and sights, before winding your way through the breathtaking winelands for a two nights and finishing up with a thrilling Big Five safari in the Kapama Reserve of the Greater Kruger National Park.

Day 1: Cape Town

On arrival at Cape Town airport you will be met by our Meet and Greet Team who will transfer you to the lovely boutqiue Blackheath Lodge for your next four nights. Its Victorian design, spacious interiors, high ceilings and wooden floors are combined with eclectic touches of African style and charm. A host of world-class restaurants is within easy reach of the lodge, and the famous beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay are just around the corner. What sets Blackheath Lodge apart is its high attention to clients, ensuring they have every comfort they need, are safely taken care of and the personal concierge will take care of your every need.

Day 2: Cape Town

You have the morning at leisure to rest up after a long flight or explore the areas around the hotel.This afternoon your guide will collect you for your half-day private city tour. which focuses on the different cultures of the City, starting with visiting Table Mountain (weather dependant) or Signal Hill to view the city and coastline, followed with a visit to Bo Kaap & Museum, Castle of Good Hope, museums, local markets, art galleries, trendy bars and cafes. The tour is flexible to allow you to make a request to visit a specific museum/building or place of interest within the time period.  Your guide normally drops you back at your hotel at approximately 5 PM.If you are unable to visit the top of Table Mountain due to weather conditions, your guide will have a chat to you about this and substitute Table Mountain with another attraction. Alternatively, if the lines at Table Mountain are too long, your guide can drop you off at Table Mountain lower station after the city tour for you to take the cablecar to the top of the mountain on your own to enjoy the views at leisure. Return with the cablecar and take a taxi back to your hotel.

Day 3: Cape Town

After breakfast  your guide will collect you from your hotel and take on a spectacular journey around the Cape Peninsula taking in all the highlights and breathtaking beauty of this world-renowned region. Travel through the historic suburbs of Muizenberg, St James and Simon’s Town. Continue for a stop at the famous Boulder’s Beach where the penguins are located. Continue along the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive, to the charming fishing villages of Kalk Bay and Hout Bay, enjoying beautiful viewpoints along the way to Cape Point, where the mighty Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet in harmony. Your guide will stop in one of the areas for lunch and return you to your hotel at approximately 5 PM.

Day 4: Cape Town

A free day to explore Cape Town and visit the V&A Waterfront area with its many cafes, shops and restaurants. From here, you may wish to go to Robben Island where from the 17th to the 20th centuries, the Island served as a place of banishment, isolation and imprisonment, made infamous by its most prominent inmate, Nelson Mandela. Today it is a World Heritage Site and museum, a poignant reminder to the price paid for freedom.

Day 5: Franschhoek

Today you will be pickup up for a full day guided Cape Winelands tour. The Winelands are set just an hour outside of Cape Town and blessed with heavenly scenery with breathtaking views. The area’s rich with history, and you can’t help but feel it as you move through the region. You will make a few stops to experience a wine cellar tour, where you’ll learn all about the process of winemaking, from grape to goblet. You’ll also enjoy a light winery lunch. Later continue to check into your boutique Winelands accommodation.

Day 6: Franschhoek

Today you will have a ticket booked for the Franschhoek Wine Tram. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley – picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300 year history. Passengers aboard the hop-on hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely way to see the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in a magnificent double-deck railway tram and an open-air tram-bus stopping in at some of South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of double deck railway tram and tram-bus transports passengers around a loop of stops allowing them to hop-off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, be it wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards.

Day 7 - 10: Kruger

Transfer this morning to the airport for your flight to Hoedspruit (cost of flight not included). On arrival at Hoedspruit airport you will be transferred to Kapama Buffalo Camp in the heart of the Kapama Reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park for the next four nights. High in the treetops, accessible only by elevated wooden walkways, the old-world luxury tents of Buffalo Camp are the closest you’ll get to living alongside our wildlife.Set among tall, shady trees, with a seasonal river below, Buffalo Camp’s suites are ultra-luxurious tents that consistently delight our guests. Dark wood and leather finishes add a nostalgic air, while oil lanterns illuminating the walkways at night create a wonderfully romantic ambience. Each luxury tent features en-suite bathrooms and air con, as well as heated blankets for cooler weather comfort. Tea and Nespresso coffee facilities come standard, along with a fully stocked minibar. For peace of mind, there’s a lock-up safe for your valuables, and for our guests from abroad, international plugs for convenience.

 

Game Drives
Two game drives a day are offered to all our guests. Accompanied by a skilled ranger and tracker, you can expect to encounter a diverse range of animal and bird species. Since this is a Big Five reserve, encountering lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo is possible over a two-day safari. While seeing big game is always exhilarating, there are many other smaller species that are also captivating, and birding enthusiasts will be delighted at the approximately 350 species of bird recorded on the reserve.

 

Bush Walks
Experience the African bush on foot under the guidance of a skilled ranger. Your guide will point out medicinal plants, insects and birdlife along the way, and share traditional tracking skills such as using animal footprints and scat to identify animals. This truly memorable, authentic and intimate encounter with nature and our wildlife is included in the tariffs.

Departure Day

After a last morning game drive and breakfast you will come back to camp to pack up before being transferred back to Hoedspruit airport for your flight back to Johannesburg.
