Overview

Namibia Flying Safari

Namibia is a vast country, one of the least densely populated on earth, and that scale shapes how you travel. The places worth seeing lie far apart, and by road the gaps between them can swallow whole days, much of it on gravel. This trip uses light aircraft to close those distances, and in my opinion that is what makes it work.

Over two weeks you move through the country’s defining landscapes, the red dunes and dark skies of the southern desert, the raw meeting of ocean and sand on the Skeleton Coast, the remote river valleys of the northwest with their desert-adapted wildlife, and the rhino and plains game of the Etosha borderlands.

What flying buys you is time on the ground. Each leg that would cost a day of driving becomes much shorter in the air. You arrive rested rather than road-weary, and you spend your days in these places rather than driving between them.
