Day 1: Kruger National Park, Timbavati
Upon arrival at Hoedspruit Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to Simbavati River Lodge in the heart of the Timbavati. Timbavati Game Reserve is situated on the Western boundary of the Kruger National Park and lies between the Klaserie, Umbabat, Manyeleti and Sabi Sand Reserves. In recent years, the fences separating Timbavati from the Kruger National Park were dropped, thus forming a pristine wilderness area of approximately four million hectares. Shaded by age old Jackalberry and Leadwood trees, Simbavati River Lodge is warm and welcoming, with a generous contemporary design and accommodation for guests in luxury tented rooms or thatched chalets. Simbavati takes its name from the local Shangaan language, translated as “the place where the lions come down from the stars”. The focus of the lodge is on the excellent big-5 game viewing, breathtaking views, friendly and knowledgeable staff in an environment where guests are made to feel comfortable and relaxed from the moment they arrive. The design of this 4-star lodge is contemporary, warm and welcoming. Guest common areas offer a generously proportioned lounge, bar, boma and extensive decks with breathtaking views overlooking the Nhlaralumi river where regular wildlife sightings take place and guests can unwind. Accommodation consists of eight luxury tents and three chalets; all are privately situated, comfortably furnished and with en-suite facilities.You will enjoy an afternoon game drive, which transforms to a night drive seeking the nocturnal animals with a stop for a traditional afternoon sundowner.
Day 2: Kruger National Park, Timbavati
You have a full day at Simbavati River Lodge. Your day consists of a morning game drive which will have you out early spotting some great game. Currently there are over 40 mammal species in the Timbavati including the Big 5 of lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant as well as 360 species of bird life. Return to the lodge for scrumptious bunch. After breakfast you have the option of an illuminating walking safari which will introduce you to the ways of the bush. While away the middle of the day by relaxing in your cottage or taking a dip at Simbavati's pool. A hearty lunch is served before you again embark on afternoon game drive exploring the Timbavati in search of the Big Five. A stop for sundowners at a scenic spot is a great way to take it all in. Returning to Simbavati Lodge may be by way of a thrilling night game drive where nocturnal animals can be spotted such as Chameleons, Spring Hares, Porcupines and more. A chance to freshen up before dinner served wither on the deck or around the roaring fire of the 'Boma'.
Day 3: Kruger National Park, Timbavati
You have a full day at this wonderful property. While staying you will undertake morning, afternoon and evening game drives with the option of a bush walk led by a qualified ranger offering insight into the African ecosystems.
This morning you have a last chance to spot wildlife on your morning game drive before returning to lodge for breakfast and to pack up. Bid a fond farewell to your guide with a transfer to Hoedspruit airport for your flight onwards.
