Day 1: Johannesburg
Met on arrival and transferred to the boutique Residence Johannesburg Hotel for your overnight rest. The Residence is an oasis of calm and a wonderful way to welcome you to Africa.
Day 2 - 5: Timbavati
Transfer this morning for your flight to Hoedspruit (cost of flight not included). On arrival at Hoedspruit airport you will be transferred to Kambaku Safari Lodge in the heart of the Timbavati for four nights. Timbavati Game Reserve is situated on the Western boundary of the Kruger National Park and lies between the Klaserie, Umbabat, Manyeleti and Sabi Sand Reserves. In recent years, the fences separating Timbavati from the Kruger National Park were dropped, thus forming a pristine wilderness area of approximately four million hectares. Combining simple luxury, a high level of environmental consciousness, meticulous design and tasteful decoration to blend in with the charm and serenity of the natural surrounds. This fully fenced family-friendly lodge has a feeling of relaxed intimacy where strangers meet and leave as friends.Game Drives & WalksMorning and afternoon/evening game drives are offered in open safari vehicles, accompanied by experienced rangers who will help you track the Big Five. The Timbavati Game Reserve consists of 53,392 hectares of private game reserve land adjoining the Kruger National Park. Presently there are over 40 mammal species in the Timbavati private game reserve, including the Big Five of Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant as well as 360 species of bird life. The Timbavati Game Reserve is located in the Limpopo province of South Africa.
Day 6: Cape Town
Enjoy a morning game drive and breakfast before being transferred to Hoedspruit airport for your flight to Cape Town (cost of flight not included). On arrival in Cape Town you will be transferred to lovely boutique Villa Zest hotel.
Day 7: Cape Town
Your guide will collect you from Villa Zest this morning for your half-day private city tour. Weather depending, Table Mountain will be your first stop for breathtaking views of the city, beaches and Cape Peninsula. As an alternative, your guide can take you to Signal Hill for a different, but just as beautiful perspective of the city. Next stop is The South African Museum and a lovely stroll through The Company Gardens, followed with a brief visit of The Parliament Buildings. Visit the city centre including Green Market Square, Long Street and depending on level of interest, pop into a diamond museum and store. On the way back, pass through the Cape Malay quarter known as The Bo Kaap with brightly coloured houses. Time permitting or as alternatives to the above, your guide can include visits to The South African National Gallery, The Bo Kaap, Iziko Slave Lodge and District Six Museums. Cable Car included. Entrance fees to Museums are for your own account. The rest of the day is free for you to explore Cape Town further.
Day 8: Cape Town
Your guide will collect you from Villa Zest. this morning for a spectacular journey around the Cape Peninsula taking in all the highlights and breathtaking beauty of this world-renowned region, including a stop at the famous Boulder’s Beach where the penguins are located as well as the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive.Time permitting, the guide can also stop at the Kirstenbosch Botantical Gardens.Travel through historic suburbs of Muizenberg, St James and Simon’s Town, charming fishing villages of Kalk Bay and Hout Bay and beautiful viewpoints on the way to Cape Point, where the mighty Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet in harmony. Your guide will stop in one of the areas for lunch. Entrance fees to the penguins at Boulders Beach, Kirstenbosch Botantical Gardens, Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and lunch are for your own account.
Day 9: Cape Town
A free day to explore Cape Town and visit the V&A Waterfront area with its many cafes, shops and restaurants. From here, you may wish to go to Robben Island where from the 17th to the 20th centuries, the Island served as a place of banishment, isolation and imprisonment, made infamous by its most prominent inmate, Nelson Mandela. Today it is a World Heritage Site and museum, a poignant reminder to the price paid for freedom.
Day 10: Franschhoek
Today you will be pickup up for a full day guided Cape Winelands tour. The Winelands are set just an hour outside of Cape Town and blessed with heavenly scenery with breathtaking views. The area’s rich with history, and you can’t help but feel it as you move through the region. You will make stops to experience a wine cellar tour, where you’ll learn all about the process of winemaking, from grape to goblet. You will check into your boutique winelands accommodation.
Day 11: Franschhoek
Today you will have a ticket booked for the Franschhoek Wine Tram. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley – picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300 year history. Passengers aboard the hop-on hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely way to see the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in a magnificent double-deck railway tram and an open-air tram-bus stopping in at some of South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of double deck railway tram and tram-bus transports passengers around a loop of stops allowing them to hop-off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, be it wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards and when they are ready, hop-on to continue the tour.
