The Garden Route and Cape Winelands tour is a circular journey from Cape Town that covers the western end of the Garden Route alongside the Klein Karoo and the Cape Winelands in a single connected itinerary. Departing Cape Town, the route heads east through Montagu and Barrydale, with a stop at a local farm school and wine tastings in Calitzdorp, before reaching Oudtshoorn for the Cango Caves and a working ostrich farm. From Oudtshoorn the road crosses the Outeniqua Pass to Knysna, with time to explore the lagoon town and the surrounding coast as far as Tsitsikamma. The return leg heads west via Mossel Bay and along the base of the Langeberg range to Hermanus, where southern right whales gather close to shore between August and November. The final day passes through Stellenbosch, known for its Cape Dutch architecture and its position at the heart of the Cape Winelands, before the tour ends back in Cape Town.
